In 1990, Leon’s daughter, Lynn, joined the company with a vision to learn the business and expand international distribution. At that time, BFW had just three international distributors, but this network has since grown to over 20, thanks to a commitment to quality and strong global word-of-mouth referrals.
In 2010, BFW introduced the ChromaLUME, marking the first major change to lamp technology powering the fiber optic light source in over 20 years with the use of plasma lamp technology. This innovation aimed to increase lamp life without sacrificing brightness, laying the groundwork for our eventual transition to LED technology, which retains intensity while reducing heat output.
In 2014, BFW partnered with Long Island Technology Group to launch the Lighthouse Series, a line of portable and tethered LED-powered headlights and light sources that emphasize robustness and clarity. The Pharos HD Coaxial Headlight/Camera System was also introduced, significantly enhancing the quality of headlight mounted video systems, providing valuable insights during surgical procedures.
In 2023, BFW proudly joined the Pacific Surgical Family of Companies, furthering commitment to deliver exceptional care and support in the surgical field. This partnership allows BFW to leverage shared resources and expertise, ultimately improving patient outcomes and driving innovation within the industry.
Today, BFW operates as part of Pacific Surgical, continuing its focus on high-performance surgical illumination and imaging solutions.
With Pacific Surgical’s leadership and infrastructure, the BFW brand is supported by expanded resources, ongoing product development, and a commitment to long-term customer support while staying true to the standards of quality and reliability that have defined BFW for decades.
